Brenda Clay has been selected as the 2022-2023 Hamilton Elementary Support Employee of the Year!

This is Brenda's 37th year working for Tulsa Public Schools, and her 7th year at Hamilton where she serves as the administrative assistant to the principal.

As the administrative assistant, Brenda helps track student attendance, orders materials for the school, files reports, submits maintenance requests, ensures classes are covered by teacher's assistants or substitute teachers as needed, and so much more.

"When I was in elementary school in Bartlesville, the principal would always choose me to answer the phones when the school secretary was gone. It made me feel super special, and I loved 'being in charge' of the office," said Brenda. 

She said her favorite part of the job is interacting with her coworkers and students. 

"I love that they feel they can come to my office and talk to me," she said. "I just love what I do throughout the day and the impact I can make on those I come in contact with. I work with the most amazing principal and staff. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else."

One of her nominators said: "Brenda is such a loving member of our Hamilton family. I know I can go to her for anything.  In fact, anyone in our Hamilton community can because Brenda is willing to help wherever she is needed. She is the perfect balance of strength and kindness. She is assertive in her delivery while maintaining a kind and professional demeanor. Brenda does her job with love and joy. She makes what I know to be a very demanding and difficult job look easy."
